Pastor's Salvation Testimony

Praise the Lord for His wonderful grace in salvation!
My early years have only scattered memories of going to church. I remember plainly attending a Revival meeting in October of 1972 at Northside Baptist Church in Thomasville, Georgia. Bro. Merrill Coram was the Pastor and Bro. Wallace Little was the preacher for the week. Praise the Lord for the faithfulness of these two men! Bro. Little preached Hell hot and Heaven sweet. The Holy Spirit convicted me that I was a sinner and deserved to go to Hell. That is plain scriptural teaching [Mk. 9:42-48; Gal. 3:22; Rom. 3:10,23; John 3:16]. The only hope was to recieve Jesus Christ as Savior [Acts 4:12, 16:31; Rom. 10:9-10,13]. I remember going to school and wondering about the salvation of my classmates and then plainly thinking about my own eternal destination. I don't remember a thing Bro. Little preached about that night. I was hoping he would quit preaching so I could go to the front of the church and get saved. It is not necessary to go to the front of a church to be saved or to wait for the end of the service. You can be saved right where you are and now! [2 Cor. 6:2] The Bible time for salvation is always right now. Mrs. Martha Taylor talked with me at the front pew and though I remember nothing she said, I know that night I received Jesus Christ as my Savior! I wasn't saved by any work, but by the grace of God [Eph. 2:8-10]. Bro. Coram baptized me the following Sunday. I remember those gold colored pants I wore to be baptized. Baptism did not save me because I was already saved! Baptism does say something about your obedience to the Lord Jesus Christ [Mt. 28:19-20; Acts 8:36-38; Rom. 6:1-4]
As I look back on the life the Lord has allowed me to have, I wonder how I made it through some of those things that have come my way. There is one good answer - I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior. He will keep you faithful to church. He will help through the storms of life [Deut. 33:27]. He will bless you more than you can imagine!
I highly recommend that you take Christ as your Savior too!

John 1:12 "But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name."
